Who’s Scarlet?
Scarlet is a 2004 Yamaha R1, in shift red, or as I prefer to call it, Scarlet.
We purchased her on Sunday, November 9th, 2008, bone-stock with barely 5300 miles on her.
While Scarlet is already a beautiful specimen, I do have plans for many, many mods and upgrades, however it won’t all be at once. As with any bike, it will probably always be a work in progress.
To-date, the only changes we’ve made are to remove the reflectors from the fork guards, and get a new front tire — I’m currently running on Metzler M3′s. We’ve also ordered frame sliders and new swingarm spools, which hopefully will be here in a few days. We’ve also replaced the stock headlights with Sylvania Silver Star bulbs (much clearer and brighter) though an HID upgrade is coming soon.
The next changes will be a new Puig race series dark smoke windscreen, and Pazzo shorty levers (black with the gold adjuster), and to remove the passenger pegs. I also plan to replace the Yamaha logos on the tank (which are currently black & silver) with black & gold ones. And then the addition of reflective black rim tape will add nighttime visibility without changing the look of the (black) wheels.
Flushmount front turn signals, integrated taillight/rear turn signals and a new undertail/tag bracket are all on the agenda as well.
